What You're Actually Getting When You Book Us

A straight answer for event planners, pastors, and whoever drew the short straw on the marriage conference committee.

Marriage workshop guest speaker, Atlanta, GA

Every event planner has the same question, and almost none of them ask it out loud:

Are these two going to be weird?

It's a fair question. You're handing a microphone to a married couple and putting them in front of a room full of people who gave up a Saturday — some of them because their spouse made them. If the speakers turn out to be strange, smug, or sixty minutes of slides about love languages, you're the one standing at the door afterward, apologizing.

So let's save you the trouble.

Who's showing up

We're Nate and Noemi Parsons. Married nearly thirty years. Two decades of Army life, a deployment to Iraq, PTSD, addiction recovery, two families that did not so much blend as collide, health seasons, business ownership, and a long stretch where we were holding on mostly out of stubbornness.

We are not on a stage because our marriage is a model. We're up there because it almost ended and didn't.

Our story is not one of perfection. It's perseverance.

What we speak on

Nine things. We'll politely say no to almost everything else.

  • Building resilient marriages

  • Emotional connection and communication

  • Military marriage, PTSD, and coming home

  • Midlife marriage transitions

  • Faith through hard seasons

  • Marriage and entrepreneurship

  • Empty nest seasons

  • Rebuilding intimacy and friendship

  • Choosing each other on purpose

If your event needs something in that neighborhood, call us. If it needs a keynote on fourth-quarter synergy, we would be a poor investment.

The rooms we love

Churches. Marriage conferences. Military installations and family readiness events. Retreats. Couples nights. Men's events, women's events, leadership gatherings, and small-business groups where half the couples in the room are running a company out of the same kitchen.

And yes — we travel. We're based in Georgia, but airplanes work, and some of the best rooms we've been in were nowhere near the Southeast. If you're planning something in Iowa, Texas, or Washington State, the answer isn't "we don't go that far." It's "send us the dates."

How we can be scheduled

  • Keynote — 35 to 50 minutes

  • Breakout session — one topic, taught tight

  • Half-day or full-day workshop — with practice built in, so couples work in the room instead of just taking notes they'll never read again

  • Weekend retreat — multiple sessions with a story arc

  • Sunday morning — sermon format, for churches that want the message from the pulpit

What it feels like when we're done

Here's the metric we actually care about. It isn't the applause.

It's the parking lot.

The clearest sign a marriage event worked is that nobody leaves fast. People stand between cars talking to each other — not to us — because something got named out loud that they'd been carrying around quietly. We have watched couples sit in a running car outside a church for forty-five minutes, finally having the conversation they'd been circling for two years.

That's the goal. Not a standing ovation. A conversation on the drive home.

A short list of what we are not

  • A guilt trip

  • A performance of a flawless marriage

  • Two people who will pretend we've never slammed a car door

  • Interested in shaming a single person in your room

We tell the truth about our own mess first. As far as we can tell, that's the only thing that earns the right to say anything about anybody else's.

The thread

Looking back, we can see something we could not see while we were living it. The years we assumed were wasted turned out to be the exact material we now carry into these rooms. Grace was never actually absent in the hard part. It was just invisible at the time, stitching together a story we could not have written ourselves.

That's the only reason we do this. We're not experts standing at the summit. We're a couple two miles farther up the same trail, hollering back that the path keeps going.

Talk It Through

Questions for your planning team before you book anyone:

  • What does your audience most need named out loud — the thing nobody's saying?

  • What do you want people talking about in the parking lot afterward?

  • Does this room need teaching, testimony, or both?

Tell us about your event. We'd be honored to hear about your audience, your dates, and what you're hoping happens in that room.
